First, you should make sure that your resume is tailored towards the position for which you are applying. It should also be accompanied by a cover letter. Address the cover letter to the individual who has the authority to hire you. If you don’t know that person’s name, call the company and find out! Practice interviewing in hopes of getting called in for one. If you are, make the best possible impression that you can, but remember to be yourself. Tell them how much you really want the job, but don’t beg! Be able to tell them exactly what you want and how your goals relate to the company’s goals. Here’s some advice that has worked for me as well as others. Send a thank-you note immediately. I once went out to my car and wrote one immediately after my interview and took it back in to the receptionist for her to deliver to the people I had just interviewed with. I got the job! Employers will be impressed by this move, and will definitely remember you!
