Be careful what you do or say online. While we have heard stories of people losing their job for posting negative Facebook comments, some companies are taking it a step further and requiring job candidates to pass social media background checks.

Job applicants are usually prepared for background checks and credit reports, but a start-up in Santa Barbara, CA is offering employers a new kind of screening test: a social media background check. According to The New York Times, Social Intelligence scours the Internet for everything a potential hire has said or done in the past seven years.

College Students: Should You List Coursework on Your Resume?

College students often question whether they should list college coursework on their resumes.

  • Probably not unless it contributes something different from what any other student in your major would offer an employer.
  • You can also list coursework if you have very little else to include on your resume and need some padding.
  • Note: It is better to list major course projects you completed rather than names of the classes themselves.
  • Similarly, dont list course numbers; they will mean nothing to readers outside your university.

LSU Partners With Local Brewery To Teach Students About Fermentation.

In March 2010, The Daily Reveille reported that Louisiana State University Chancellor Michael Martin wanted to develop a microbrewery on campus. A little more than a year later, the university announced it would launch its very own branded beer, just in time for their fall football season.

As reported by Good Beer Fest, the university is working with Tin Roof Company, which was started by LSU alums through the university’s small business incubator, to produce its very own blonde ale. When ready, the beer will be available in cans as well as on draft at local establishments.
