Heres the deal! It has been about a year and a half since I graduated from college and I live in Grand Rapids and I really dont want to settle here! (I have lived here my whole life and I dont want to be one of those people who never leave the area they grew up!) Its too conservative and the economy is bad. I have about $600 from tax returns saved up and I have a couple friends in Chicago that have told me that I could stay with them until I get on my feet! I would like to move there maybe in the fall. What should I do? Should I set aside some weekend days to go job hunting in the city or work for a few months at a GAP or MACYS or STARBUCKS and then tranfer to a chicago location? Or just **** it up in Grand Rapids no mater how much I dont like it?

If you want to move…go for it! You may need some week days set aside to hunt, depending on what you’re hunting for. Try searching on the internet and try to group your interviews into the days you go to Chicago. You could do the work as described above also, in Chicago, stay with friends and search for what you really want. My sister lives in Michigan and is moving….said her house may take 2 years to sell because of the really bad economy there. Good luck!!!
