job hunting sucks
plakola asked:

I am a recent graduate from this medical assistant program. I am applying places, faxing resumes, going to interviews, following up on interviews, calling places, calling some temp/staffing agencies (one said they need at least 6 months experience to place me. Life *****. Most places want people with experience, how can I have experience if they don’t hire me? I feel like I will never get a job, My question is, what else should I do to get my foot in the door?

contact the school you graduated from…most will offer job placement assistance or will have a career center there where they will at least look at your resume and tell you if something is glaringly wrong. Have you taken your certification test to become a CMA. If you have that extra certification you will a lot more desirable to potential employers. Network! Its just a matter of time before you find something, medicine is a field where they will always need people.

Hi Plakola!

The previous poster was right- get certified if you haven’t done it already- that definitely gets your foot in the door and also don’t forget to get CPR certified too. Most employers request that now.

Are you a good phlebotomist? Perhaps while you look for your dream job as an M.A., you can draw blood at clinics, blood donor centers, hospital labs, or work as a temp doing phlebotomy.

Look into that and good luck!
