job hunting sucks
Curiosity Rules! asked:

I’ve been working at target in brooklyn for 10 months, and ive seen favoritism between managers and their brown nosers. I’m paid 7.25 an hour, and I have to deal with 30% of the populous being irately rude with me although i try to maintain my professionalism in my department, I specifically requested to be changed to a different department prior to an incident and was told theyll see what they can do. I was pressured to sign off on a final notice for the incident however the persons present and issueing the written notice were not the correct managers. I felt like i was railroaded into write ups by managers because I dont know whom to speak with…..I have begun severe job hunting to remove myself form this depressive enviroment any suggestions besides finding a better job ?
The one manager above the current one that oversees my department is useing said tactics to have a glass ceiling effect. We do have a humkan resource manager whom is new However id do feel that there is a said practice of nameing names that violates their private policy act…
Is there a way to remain anonnymous and see if an action can be done without stirring to much trouble…

As my favorite uncle always said, If you can’t stand what some idiot does, do everything you can to become that idiot.

Try talking to the main manager, assuming they aren’t part of the problem. If they are try contacting your district manager, but find out from human resources how to go about it.

What are your interests?. . . Not everyone has to go to college. In some instances, you would be better off in the Trades. Find something you absolutely love. Go to Monster.com and find another job. If you don’t have the skills, continue your education in your chosen field. Good Luck! Nothing worse than being somewhere you don’t want to be.

Have you consulted an attorney? Many attorney’s will offer a free consultation.

Make sure you keep copies of ALL paperwork (even if it seems unimportant). And keep notes of incidents, who was involved, when they happened, and so forth.

You may have a case of harassment and/or coercion.

Why they would be doing this when they are paying you so little is a mystery. Usually these tactics are used to get older, higher paid employees to quit so they can hire new ones at a lower wage.

On another note — Remember when seeking a job that it is as much YOUR responsibility to thoroughly check out your prospective employer as it is their job to check you out. If you see a company with a high turnover rate, you can be fairly certain it won’t be a good place to work.
